Hope's Heroes: New England Organ Bank
Over the summer and fall I collaborated with the New England Organ Bank to illustrate a graphic novel and children's book to help educate children on tissue donation. The resulting books are meant to help children coping with the loss of a loved one who donated tissue to help save a life. It was great to work with the New England Organ Bank and help contribute to a great cause. Below are a few pages from the final graphic novel, titled Hope's Heroes.

Interior Illustrations: Sex Workers' Rights
I created some interior illustrations for the book Sex Workers Unite by Melinda Chateauvert. The book is out today! The illustrations are of different buttons that help promote sex workers' rights.

Color, Lace, Fishtail Braids
I have a new post up on A Boston Blazer, exploring the Esplanade in Boston. The colors for this shoot were absolutely beautiful and it was fun to do a quick painting of one of the shots.

A Place in the Sun
I recently did some quick illustrations for A Place in the Sun Foundation. The illustrations were for a children's workbook. Here is a picture I created illustrating "circle time," one of the daily activities for the kids. I created the illustration by drawing the line and color separately and combining the layers in Photoshop. I really like the off-register look of this technique and want to experiment more with it in the future!

Skyfall
I drew this recently for a birthday present. The drawing is inspired by the most recent Bond movie, Skyfall. It was fun to work with a different color palette from my usual work. I think I will have to experiment more with blues in the future!

Another Christmas present
My dad can be tough to buy presents for. It seems that everything he wants he just goes and buys for himself! This year I decided to surprise him with a set of illustrated greeting cards that he could use for his work. My dad works for Kennesaw State University and their mascot is an owl-hence the subject of this drawing.

Christmas Presents
I drew this portrait this past holiday season as a commissioned Christmas present. I have a better scan, which I will post at some point. For now this is a photo I was sent by the client.

Sketchbook
I have a bunch of really tacky jewelry that I love. So one stormy day I decided to start sketching it. More to come another day...

Tweet Land of Liberty
It's my birthday!
Incidentally, it is also the release date of Tweet Land of Liberty by Elinor Lipman. I had the chance to do a little illustration for this book cover. The book is a selection of rhyming tweets that chronicle the 2012 election season.

Sketchbook
I drew this a while ago when I was brainstorming ideas for the cover of Outlaw Marriages (http://www.gabiandersonstudio.blogspot.com/2012/04/outlaw-marriages-book-cover-design.html). This is a sketch of Greta Garbo and Mercedes De Acosta, one of the couples profiled in the book.
